The Gallery Director position is a full-time professional position. The Gallery Director is responsible for the operation of the College gallery, including the permanent collection and all the exhibitions in the Anna Lamar Switzer Gallery and the Charles W. Lamar Studio. The Gallery Director will plan, curate, and coordinate the selection of exhibitions and academic support programs; supervise the care, conservation, and expansion of the permanent collection; prepare and manage the annual budget; remain current with American Alliance of Museums standards and best practices; and speak before various community groups on behalf of the Switzer Gallery and Lamar Studio. The Gallery Director may be required to travel out of district and may be required to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends. This position reports to the Department Head, Visual Arts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a bachelorís degree in studio art, art history, museum studies, or an equivalent degree; and three years of full-time experience managing a gallery. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer terminal degree in field; experience in gallery and collection management at the university or college level; proven record of curatorial experience with national and international artists; and knowledge of collection management software.
SALARY RANGE: $33,000.00 - $38,500.00 (Depending on the qualifications, the salary is negotiable.)
