Teaches students effectively in assigned classes and maintains office hours for student consultation.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with students of varying diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated skills in successfully working with diverse populations through experiences such as formal training and past work experiences. The ability to provide quality customer service.
May be required to lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Nursing: Minimum Knowledge and Experience
Master’s degree or higher in Nursing or any other discipline and at least 18 graduate hours in Nursing. Must be able to teach all areas of nursing including medical surgical nursing, mental health nursing, pediatric nursing, neonatal and obstetrical nursing, and foundations in nursing. Official transcripts will be required at time of interview. ***Will be subject to a criminal background check. Some positions may be subject to a fingerprint check.***
Occupational Therapy Assistance Program: Minimum Knowledge and Experience / Education and Experience:
Education: Must hold a minimum of a Baccalaureate degree by an institution that is accredited by a regional or national accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE). The baccalaureate degree is not limited to a bachelor’s in Occupational Therapy. However, the candidate must also have a degree in occupational therapy whether an associate’s degree or bachelor degree. Program Director must have a minimum of a Master’s degree.
Experience: Must have a minimum of 3 years of documented experience in the field of occupational therapy, including practice as an occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant. The experience must include:
Clinical practice as an occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant; clinical educator to occupational therapy assistants or occupational therapy students.
Additional criteria include documentation of:
1. Initial certification as either an OT or OTA.
2. Current licensure in the state of Texas as an OT or OTA.
3. Diploma or transcripts indicating degree level obtained from an accredited institution.
4. Prior record of teaching in an academic institution, presentations at state or national conference and any other means of formal presentation to individuals on an educational format.
5. Certifications and or continuing education on a specific area of occupational therapy practice (i.e. Pediatrics, Physical Disabilities, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Acute, Inpatient/ Outpatient Rehabilitation, Mental Health, Neurology)
