The West Virginia University, Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, Fundamentals of Engineering Program (FEP) is seeking applications for multiple Teaching Assistant/Associate Professors. These are nine-month, non-tenure track faculty rank positions that are eligible for promotion and merit raises, which involve a level of effort of about 80% assigned to teaching and 20% assigned to departmental service. The teaching function involves classroom teaching of 6-8 sections of Fundamental Engineering courses per academic year and includes advising students. The service element of the position involves serving on faculty committees, serving as a liaison to other WVU units, and participating in planned student-related retention, recruitment, and outreach activities.

Responsibilities include teaching courses to freshman and sophomore level students; coordinating courses and class projects; assisting with and leading continual curriculum assessment and development; supporting retention and student success activities in and outside of the classroom; providing support for all regularly scheduled FEP events and activities; assisting and tutoring students; providing academic advising to freshman and sophomore students who have not declared a discipline major; representing the FEP and the College to prospective students and families, visitors, and other interested parties from within and outside of WVU, as well as at campus and outside events. Additionally, Teaching Assistant/Associate Professors are encouraged to engage in and support limited engineering education research focused on issues of student transition, academic success, diversity and inclusivity, and retention.

WVU is the State comprehensive Land Grant University with a main campus enrollment of approximately 29,000 students and a Carnegie Classification –R1: Doctoral Universities Highest Research Activity. Morgantown metro area has a population of about 137,000 residents with Morgantown itself at approximately 31,000. It is ranked among the most livable small cities in the country. Job Requirements

Applicants must have a minimum of a Ph.D. or Ed.D. including a B.S. and/or M.S. in engineering or a closely-related STEM field and a minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching at a senior high school level or above at the time of appointment. Applicants must also demonstrate the ability to provide engineering students a nurturing, stimulating, and exciting learning environment. Candidates for the rank of Teaching Associate Professor must have a sustained record of outstanding teaching and service.
