This broad perspective positions the College to address the complex, multi-disciplinary problems that are increasingly common as society becomes more dependent on information technology.
Led by a world-class faculty comprised of leading computing and information science experts, the College offers bachelor’s degrees in computer science, computing and security technology, data science, information systems and software engineering and master’s degrees in computer science, health informatics, information systems, library and information science, and software engineering. In addition, the College offers doctoral programs in computer science and information studies, as well as several professional development options.
CCI’s research expertise lies in broad areas including computer science, computer security, human centered computing, informatics and data science, and library and information science. Our faculty members are national leaders in scholarly excellence. For example, our information science faculty has been ranked as having one of the highest levels of scholarly productivity among U.S. institutions in 2015.
The College is home to one of the oldest continually ALA-accredited library and information science programs in the country: the MS in Library and Information Science program. The program is consistently highly ranked by U.S.News & World Report, most recently in the 2017 edition of “America’s Best Graduate Schools.” The College also achieved national ranking in 2017 in specialties such as Information Systems (4th), Digital Librarianship (7th) and Services for Children and Youth (7th).
The College is a founding member of the iSchools Caucus of 25 prominent colleges dedicated to advancing the information field in the 21st Century.
