California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, Early Childhood Studies Department
Job Listings

Organization Profile

The Department: Beginning Fall 2018, Early Childhood Studies became an independent, stand-alone department, after two years as a program under the umbrella of the Education Department. Early Childhood Studies is one of six departments in the College of Education and Integrative Studies that offers specialized, graduate, and undergraduate programs in Education, Educational Leadership, Ethnic and Women’s Studies, Interdisciplinary General Education, and Liberal Studies. The Early Childhood Studies (ECS) Department offers educational programs that advocate for understanding diversity and dual language development and use service learning, internships, face-to-face, hybrid, and online pedagogy in order to provide the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to work with children and families during the most critical developmental time in a child’s life.

Beginning in Fall 2019, the Department will offer a program that leads directly to a credential in Special Education. While at Cal Poly Pomona, Early Childhood Studies students study processes important for early childhood development and identify implications of theory in the examination and application of principles and practices within diverse family, program, and community contexts. Program graduates are prepared to work in infant-toddler programs, preschools, elementary schools, careers in home visiting, family support programs, post-baccalaureate degree programs, and other professional contexts that focus on working with young children and families.
