Position Summary

               We are seeking an experienced, innovative and dynamic scholar to lead the Williams School of Business, an integral pillar of the University, and its largest academic unit (600 students, 20+ faculty).  The Dean will help position the School of Business as a national leader in undergraduate business education.  The Dean will be responsible for supervising and supporting the academic programs and research activities of the Williams School of Business.  Under the general coordination of the Vice-Principal Academic, the Dean will also participate, with other academic officers, in the coordination of the academic programs and research activities of the University.

               We seek a candidate possessing strong leadership skills, a transformative vision, a demonstrated excellence in the development and administration of academic programs, a proven track record of change management and wide experience and commitment to undergraduate education. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to undertake extensive community and business outreach, and will possess a strong background in research and professional activity within a university business context.  An individual with a broad network of connections amongst business leaders locally, nationally and even internationally would be a significant asset. We seek an individual who can leverage these contacts to enhance the academic profile of Bishop’s academic programs in Business and to entice business leaders to interview and hire Bishop’s graduates.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Masters in Business Administration or equivalent is a minimum requirement. A relevant doctoral degreeispreferred.
  • Knowledge of undergraduate and graduate university education in business in Quebec, nationally and internationally. Experience with accreditation of university business schools would be an asset.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible higher education leadership experience in academic institutions, with substantial management skills in strategic planning, finance, team building, and faculty and staff development.
  • Demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive and collaborative learning and working environment.
  • Demonstrated ability at community outreach across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Clear and effective communicator orally and in writing.
  • High level oral and written proficiency in English is required. Fluency in French is a significant asset.

Bishop's 550 acre campus boasts 25 buildings including seven residences, a Library Learning Commons and an archival library, two theatres, outstanding classrooms, laboratory and athletic facilities, an arena, a historic chapel, a music recital hall, and a daycare. A duck pond and wildlife refuge, 10 tennis courts, an outdoor pool, and a golf course are also found on campus.
