  • Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
  • Continuing (i.e. permanent) position

What You Will Do

We invite applications for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer position in Computer Science where you will develop an active teaching and research programme. Your research will complement the Department's present research activities, but is not limited to these topics. You will also contribute to teaching in traditional core computer science subjects, as well as being encouraged to develop a strong, externally-funded research programme as well as be expected to collaborate with other academics in the Department's teaching and research activities. The appointee will also be expected to develop links with and contribute to the wider engineering profession at local, national and international levels.

The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering is a strong and forward-looking Department, dedicated to excellence in both research and teaching. The CS Education Research Group is well-known internationally, and is very active in supporting the new Digital Technologies curriculum in NZ, and working with its counterparts in other countries.

Job Requirements

Who You Are

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in a Computer Science (or closely aligned discipline), have a demonstrated record of published research in computer science (or closely aligned discipline). The successful candidate will have a commitment to excellence in teaching of core courses in computer science at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, delivering effective teaching methods that enable a wide range of learners to succeed. The appointee will also demonstrate a background in supervising final year undergraduate projects, Masters and Ph.D. students, an ability in collaborating with others in the University, and interest in contributing to Departmental, College, and University activities.
