The successful candidates must provide evidence of strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions in a graduate level, entry-to-practice, physical therapy curriculum. The successful candidates must also provide evidence of high quality scholarly output that demonstrates potential for independent research, which may include educational scholarship, leading to peer-assessed publications and the securing of external research funding. Candidates will be expected to maintain an ongoing commitment to academic and pedagogical excellence in support of the Physical Therapy Program.
Demonstrated engagement with the physiotherapy profession is required through current registration as a physiotherapist and clinical experience beyond entry-to-practice training requirements. Preference will be given to candidates with direct knowledge of physiotherapy practice in Canada and hospital-based clinical experience in the areas of physiotherapy specifically for people with cardiovascular or neurological conditions, or for children and youth. Assets for the positions include: (a) curriculum development experience; (b) clinical experience in inter-professional acute care environments; (c) supervision of physiotherapy students in clinical settings, and (d) current membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, or a parallel physiotherapy professional organization. The committee will be seeking candidates with complementary expertise with respect to physiotherapy practice and treatment.
The principal responsibilities of the position include teaching in the entry-level Physical Therapy Program, which may include teaching in the clinical context. Candidates must provide evidence of their ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary and student-centred environment. The successful candidate will also be expected to supervise and mentor graduate students from one or more of the research graduate programs (Rehabilitation Science, Aging and Health, Rehabilitation and Health Leadership), and to contribute to the scholarship and community outreach activities of the School. Preference will be given to candidates whose research fits with the strategic mission of the School, particularly with respect to building our capacity for community rehabilitation and/or collaborative care, and building academic excellence in our curricula. The successful candidate will be required to make substantive contributions through service to the School, the Faculty, the University, and/or the broader community.
